Battery-powered lifts are the standard choice for work inside buildings. This page explains when an electric scissor lift or mast lift fits the job, how to look after floors and batteries, and which Platfon models cover which heights.

A battery-powered lift draws its energy from on-board batteries that run the hydraulic pump and, on self-propelled models, the drive motors. There is no engine exhaust, so the machine can work in enclosed spaces where diesel equipment would need extraction or would not be allowed at all: warehouses, supermarkets, hospitals, schools, airports and food production halls.
Low noise is the second reason. Electric drive lets teams work during opening hours or at night next to occupied areas, and it makes communication on the platform easier. For contractors working inside finished buildings, a quiet machine is also a more welcome guest. The wider scissor lift range shows where the electric models sit.
Electric does not have to mean indoor only. The PRT14E Scissor Lift and PRT18E Scissor Lift combine an AC electric drive with four-wheel drive and a rough-terrain mode for outdoor work. For remote sites without charging points, the diesel PRT18D remains the alternative.
Battery life depends heavily on how a machine is charged, used and stored. Charging practice differs between battery technologies, so the operator manual of your model is the reference for charging routines, storage and any routine checks. If shift length is critical, describe your duty cycle in the quote request so the right configuration can be discussed.
The following habits apply to almost every battery-powered lift:
Yes, if the machine is rated for outdoor use and conditions stay within its limits. Compact slab scissors are designed mainly for firm, level surfaces and may be rated for indoor use only or for reduced occupancy outdoors. The PRT14E and PRT18E are electric machines built for outdoor sites, with four-wheel drive and automatic outrigger leveling. Always check the wind rating on the data plate.
Run time depends on the battery fitted, the size of the machine and, above all, the duty cycle: how often the platform is raised and how far the machine drives. Platfon does not quote run-time figures on its product pages, so describe your typical shift in the quote request and ask for guidance on the configuration that suits your work.
Lower the platform, park the machine in a dry, ventilated charging area, switch it off and connect the approved charger to a suitable outlet. Keep naked flames and smoking away from the area and keep it clear of stored materials. Let the charger finish its cycle unless the manual says otherwise, and carry out any battery checks the manual prescribes.
Yes. Without an engine, the main sources of noise are the hydraulic pump, the drive motors and the warning alarms, so an electric lift is markedly quieter than a diesel machine. That makes battery models the usual choice for occupied buildings, night work and noise-sensitive sites. Motion and descent alarms, where fitted, still sound as they should.
Two things matter: the tires and the weight. Ask whether non-marking tires are fitted for your type of floor, and compare machine weight and wheel loads with the floor rating, especially on mezzanines, raised access floors and tiled areas. A lighter model such as the PS-08 Scissor Lift, at 1,500 kg (3,307 lb), puts far less load on a floor than the 3,540 kg (7,804 lb) PS-16.
Choose a mast lift for one-person tasks in narrow aisles, on shop floors or wherever a very small footprint matters: the PM-06 Vertical Mast Lift is 0.76 m (30 in) wide and weighs 980 kg (2,161 lb). Choose a scissor when two or more people need room for materials, or when the load exceeds the 160 to 227 kg (353 to 500 lb) of the mast lifts. See also vertical mast lifts.
The AT5.5 Scissor Lift is the most compact: 0.76 m (30 in) wide, 1.44 m (4.7 ft) long, 1.76 m (5.8 ft) high when stowed and 400 kg (882 lb) in weight. It gives 5.4 m (17.7 ft) working height for one person with a 250 kg (551 lb) rated load. The PM-06 mast lift has the same width but reaches 6.8 m (22.3 ft).

The AT5.5, PS06N and PS-08 cover working heights from 5.4 m (17.7 ft) to 7.8 m (25.6 ft). At 0.76 to 0.81 m (30 to 32 in) wide, they suit maintenance crews who move between rooms, floors and buildings.
The mini scissor lifts page compares their stowed dimensions and weights in detail.
From 9.8 m (32.2 ft) to 13.8 m (45.3 ft) of working height, these three models handle most installation and maintenance work at ceiling level. The PS-12 and PS-14 share a 2.3 x 1.15 m (7.5 x 3.8 ft) deck and a 320 kg (705 lb) rated load; the PS-10N is narrower at 0.85 m (33 in).
All three list automatic pothole protection, tilt protection and overload protection.
The PS-16 Scissor Lift is the tallest slab model, with 15.8 m (51.8 ft) working height and 13.8 m (45.3 ft) platform height. Its rated load of 230 kg (507 lb) is lower than that of the PS-14, a common trade-off as scissor stacks get taller, so plan materials accordingly.
At 1.40 m (55 in) wide and 3,540 kg (7,804 lb), it calls for a check of floor loading and the access route before delivery.
These large-deck machines bring battery operation to building sites and yards. The PRT14E reaches 14.2 m (46.6 ft) with 365 kg (805 lb) for two persons; the PRT18E reaches 17.95 m (58.9 ft) with 680 kg (1,500 lb) for up to four persons.
Both list a 4WD AC drive with rough-terrain mode, proportional controls, automatic outrigger leveling, a dual-sided platform extension and full-height entry gates.
The PM-06 and PM-08 are one-person machines for 6.8 m (22.3 ft) and 8 m (26.2 ft) of working height, both on a base 1.36 m (4.5 ft) long. The PM-10J Vertical Mast Lift takes two persons to 11.2 m (36.7 ft) and lists a fault diagnosis system.
All three are battery-powered and suited to compact indoor access, such as aisles, shop floors and plant rooms.
Tell us the working height, the floor and access limits and how many hours a day the machine will work. Platfon will recommend a model and prepare a quote.
